Blade construction: Hira-zukuri majestic wakizashi, Iori-mune. Mihaba is in wide and upper Fukura is full. (click HERE for higher resolution image of the entire blade).
Forging(Hada): Itame conspicuous wooden grains generally mixing in with Mokume burl pattern partially and it's surface is covered in minute Ji-nie hard metal granules where Chikei darkish Nie lines gushes out of steel.
Temper(Hamon): Hamon is Nie-based large Gunome which varies in height and shape and the patterns of both sides are well matched. Temper edge is covered in thick and vivid Nie and deep misty Nioi. There works with Kinsuji (bright curved threadlike areas) and Sunagashi (streamslike blushing area). Tobiyaki temper spill over surface partially. The entire blade is tasteful and filled in old atmosphere.
Tang(Nakago): Nakago remains UBU original. One peg hole. V-shape heel shape and Horizontal KIRI filemarks. The signature is two large character that reads HIRO NOBU.
Temper of tip (Boshi): Boshi is small circle then deeply turns back.
The first gen. HIRONOBU played an active part in Yamashiro (Kyoto) and also in Kishu (Wakayama) during Kanei period early 17 th c. The 2nd gen. was enjoyed Yamatonokami tile and the 3rd gen had got a Kawachinokami, succeeded to the 4th generation until early 18 th c. This heroic wakizashi is an excellent condition and in fresh polish status, that holds medieval brave samurai spirits during Momoyama period.
