Frontier of MISHINA school in Yamashiro province is smith KANEMICHI(9th generation of Shizu Saburo KANEUJI) who had exclusively worked for a general [Takeda Shingen], moved from Mino to Yamashiro along with his four sons, [Iga-no-kami KINMICHI], [Izumi-no-kami KINMICHI], [Tanba-no-kami YOSHIMICHI] and [Echu-no-kami MASATOSHI] in 1592 (Bunroku 2nd). They established one of the largest sword smiths lineage family so called MISHINA school against Umetada-Myoju school and Kunihiro lineage. The subject Dashio set of Katana were made by the 3rd. generation Izumi-no-kami RAI KINMICHI who was active Enpo period (middle of 17th century).
Katana shows conspicuous ITAME wooden grain forging marks mixing in with large burl marks, where blinking hard metal granules (NIE) splits over vividly and thick darkish NIE lines gush our against blinking NIE whereas Shinogi-ji area is outstanding Masame straight grains flows impressively, where works with thick NIE hard granules also. Temper is strong NIE Notare wavy based, lower part is mixing in with small gunome, upper the blade, stronger, more vivid NIE and deeper the mist (NIOI). Temper splits over the surface, over the shinogi-ji and Mune back ridge so called HITATSURA. In the interior of temper, there works with KINSEN, INAZUMA thunder and SUNAGASHI blushing marks. Temper of tip (BOSHI) is in full tempered deeply turns back, full of generous activity vivid and blight. Strongly influenced by high-ranking Soshu works in the Medieval period and shows generous and energetic impression.
Wakizashi is tight ITAME grain marks, precise and strong and also Masame straight grain marks is not noticeable. The entire skins shows cool and refreshing impression. Temper is medium Ko-NIE based, starting with straight KYO Yakidashi mark, Gunome in which interior works with ASHI feet and upper the blade, there works with refined SUNAGASHI blushing activity. The temper of Boshi is gentle medium circle. The wakizashi shows a traditional Yamashiro school technique.
Original DAISHO set of mount consists of set of DAISHO fuchi/kashira Autumn flowers and swirled confetti (Shakudo nanako-ji, takabori, Gold/Silver Iroe inlay), Menuki, Shakudo Yobori Iroe inlay (DAI) Naginata halberd/baton of Command (SHO) The keel cane/Brushing away implement design. KOZUKA Old pine tree/crescent (Shakudo Nanako-ji takabori Gold Iroe inlay, gold back panel/signed as Goto Teijo-saku attributed by Mitsuyoshi a seal), Kougai Wild geese, snakes in wicker basket (Shakudo Nanako-ji Takabori, Gold Iroe inlay. DAISHO tsubas Cattle Breeding scene (Brown Shibuichi ground/SAYA geometric pattern inlay, Sukidashi carving Suemon inlay IROE inlay. This complete DAISHO set of blades with an old original koshirae are extremely rare and both blades and daisho set of mounts are in excellent condition.
