Mihaba is in average and there is shallow
curvature leading to large and broad tip.
There are chiselled half way Bo-hi grooves
on both sides. (click HERE for high resolution image) Kitae(forging pattern) : Kitae is Itame-hada mixing in with entwined Masame-hada. Ji-nie covered in surface. Hamon(tempering pattern) : Hamon is gunome and YAHAZU-ha (like a notch of an allow). Thick Ni-e Ashi activity toward the cutting edge, delicate sunagashi works in the interior of temper. Nakago(tang) : Nakago is unaltered original. Ha-agari Kengyo heel shape. Osujikai-filemark One retaining hole. The signature in hakiomote is seven large character that reads Un-shu-ju Fuji-wara Fuyu-hiro. Boshi(tip) : Boshi is large O-kissaki. The tempering pattern is large gunome in yokote ridge then straight small circle turn-back with tight end. Smith Fuyuhiro families during Edo-period were descendants of a founder FUYUHIRO who lived in Obama town in Wakasa in Muromachi period. This is a brave and heroic sword that resembles to a sword which is O-suriage. The koshirae consists of Black lacquered sheath, Fuchi, kashira and Kojiri is in one set made of iron with silver descriptions of [Gishu Seisha] that means Justice by force to survive and [Yamano-gotoku-ugokazu] - Strong resolution like a mountain. This sword was possibly possessed by a samurai reformer on the occasion of imminent Meiji restoration. Newly polish and there is a darkish grain mark in hakiomote about 35mm below yokote ridge, tiny tip off at hamachi under the habaki collar. Those wares are possibly best restored by a skilled polisher. The entire Ji-ha is possible best condition and deeply impressed by vivid and bright tempering pattern. Choice goods.
