Length of cutting edge 40.7cm Curvature 1.5cm Width of base 32.5mm Width of Yokote 29.4mm Thickness of base 7.0mm
Blade construction: Wakizashi of Shinogi-zukuri, Iori-mune. Kasane is thick and impressively wide in Mihaba, shallow curve with quite less degree of tapering from base to swelling upper Yokote leading to the pronounced large Kissaki. The entire blade is particularly massive and heavy on hand. (click HERE for higher resolution image of the entire blade)
Forging(Hada): Forging is conspicuous Itame-hada with an indication of streaming ware on Hiraji whereas Shinogi-ji shows outstanding Masame-hada.
Temper(Hamon): Hamon is a bit on coarse sparkling Nie-deki, undulating Notare mixing with Gunome, Tassel Choji and Togari-ha that varies in height and shape in different angles. Some overflows onto Hiraji to form isolatedTobiyaki. In the interior of temper, there works with Noi mist-like crystalliae area, floating YOU appears and thick Nie-Ashi emits toward cutting edge where short lines of NieSunagashi and thick lines of Kinsuji is perceived. The entire quenching scene shows abundant activity of Nie in full of rustic beauty in battle ages.
Temper of tip (Boshi): Boshi forms irregular Midarekomi wide undulating Gunome with intensive Hakikake blaze-up indication.
Tang(Nakago): Nakago is in UBU original. One Mekugiana peg hole. KIRI (horizontal) filemarks. The mei in front is two character TOSHINAGA or in different pronounced JUMYO

Here is a proud Samurai supplemental wakizashi sword in battle ages.
The founder TOSHINAGA (Jumyo) Žõ–½ reportedly lived in Mino (now Shimizu, Ibigawa, Gifu pref.) in Ouei era (1394-) and flourished throughout Muromachi period.

As JUMYO pronouncing is an auspicious happy sign as long life and has been prized for charm and divine protection, descendants of the JUMYO Žõ–½ had served themselves at the service of Owari Tokugawa clan in 5 generations in Shinto period.

The subject stirring wakizashi is full of Samurai dandysm spirit and comes with a decorative Koshirae mount in very good condition from Edo period. Tsuka is refreshed with new Samegawa and silk cord on this exhibition.
