The subject wakizashi was made by the 3rd generation UJIFUSA who had enjoyed Bizen-no-kami title in the 22th day, the eighth month, the seventh year of Genna (A.D.1621). He was born in the fourth year of Bunroku (A.D.1595) at Kiyosu in Owari province, a son of Hidanokami Ujifusa. He had retired when he was 40 years old (A.D.1634) to succeed Ujifusa to his son Hidanokami Ujifusa (4th generation). This heroic wakizashi is understood to be made between 1621 to 1634 when he retired. After he yielded his position as head of the Ujifusa family to his son, he named himself Bizen-no-kami Ujifusa-Nyudo(a monk title). The massive and fat shape which is durable construction, was popular during the early stage of Edo period and this is a good example that courageous Owari Samurai still mostly like such heroic wakizashi as a supplement of long Katana. Gold Botan-Yujo file marks habaki collar, Shira-Saya plain wood mounting.
