This is a superb work of smith Suzuki HARUKUNI and his real name is Suzuki Taima Hachirou, who was a pupil of Kuroda Takanobu (famed sword smith as a maker of Toran wave pattern). As seem from the subject wakizashi, it's workmanship, especially it's forging method has Soshu school technique with bright nie and nioi activity and plenty of highlight of s famed sword smith.
The attached original koshirae fitting consists of samidare (Summer Rain) filemakes Shakudo Fuchi/kashira, Iron tsuba Chrysanthemum brass inlay and extra tsuba crane/pine tree motif and Iron Kojiri with brasswork. Both blade and koshirae fitting almost remains an original condition over 158 years ago and sparkling grains and blinking temper have been entirely revived .
