Sugata(configuration) : Shinogi-zukuri, Iori-mune. Mihaba is in average and there is deep curvature (middle and upper pointed). The blade is massive and rich in hiraniku leading to a large kissaki, well-proportioned sword which holds an almost original shape during the passage of 500 years. (click HERE for higher resolution)
Kitae(forging pattern) : Kitae-hada is conspicuous Itame-hada (wooden grain) and the swelling masame hada pattern in shinogi-ji. Hiraji is covered in deep and speckled Ji-nie that generates chikei (thick nie lines) and reflected whitish utsuri effect over the surface.
Hamon(tempering pattern) : Hamon forms with gunome zigzag mixing in with combined togari-ha (sharp pointed small zigizag) outline. Tight Nioi-kuchi with bright Ko-nie attaches along the tempering line.
Boshi (tip): The temper of the tip is Midarekomi irregular lines, small circle deeply turn back so called JIZOU-shape.
Nakago(tang) : UBU which holds an original tang with one mekugi-ana retaining hole. Filemark is V-shape (Takanoha). The signature in hakiomite is three large character that reads KANE TOSHI saku. Nice taste of patina and remains clear marks of original chisel.
Smith KANETOSHI who belonged to a Tokuin lineage, was a son of smith Kanehisa had been active during very early 16 th century in Seki town, Mino province. This katana is just completed with fresh polish holding an rich and massive volume and thick in kasane with tall shibogi-ridge, heavy on hands with well-proportioned deep curve. The tang is rather short to the future generations' works which is suitable for one-handed strategy. Heavy on hand, solid construction and point is broad, showing a samurai spirit. It is entirely and splendidly active with whitish reflection of Utsuri and thick chikei thick nie outline activity over the surface. The entire blade is strikingly healthy and is sound condition. it's workmanship is hidden an awe-inspiring power. Among similar works this blade is a delight.
