Sugata(configuration) : Hira-zukuri, low iori-mune and there is uchizori curve and fukura in full. (click HERE for higher resolution) Kitae(forging pattern) : Kitae is combination of itame-hada (wooden grain) and conspicuous flowing pattern(masame hada). The entire kitae hada is outstanding and there is Shirake-utsuri reflection. Hamon(tempering pattern) : Hamon is nioi-based covering ko-nie, sunagashi acitivity, gunome and box shape. Boshi (tip): Boshi is gunome midare sharpen up then small circle turn back creating JIZOU-shape. Nakago(tang) : Nakago is UBU (unaltered). Two peg holes. Higaki file marks and round heel shape. There is two large character that reads KANE-IE located lower side of the tang. The entire blade shows a typical workmanship of Sue-Seki school, however, the tempering pattern varies much more than usual works and rich in height. The incidental fitting is in an excellent condition which consists of silver set of Kozuka/Kogai (Futatokoro-mono), Shakudo/Yamagane chrysanthemum design mekugi and yamagane ground motif sheath ornament Monkey design of which arm is reaching the reflecting full moon in the Kurikata. Silver foil habaki. Shira-Saya plain wood mounting included.
