Sugata(configuration) : Hira-zukuri, Iori-mune. No curve and there is FUKURA curve in full. (click HERE for super sized image)
Kitae(forging pattern) : Kitae-hada is fine ko-itame wooden burl mark in detail and generally shows entwined masame(straight grained) marks along cutting edge side.The surface is covered in fine ji-nie (hard metal granules) that generates Yubashiri Utsuri reflection that grows in belt.
Hamon(tempering pattern) : Temper is suguha straight outline. Habuchi is covered in thick nie and the interior of temper is filled in with dense Nioi. There is Hotsure (fray) and Niju-ha (double temper outlines) indication along the temper line. The entire temper is vivid and bright.
Boshi (tip): The temper of the tip is straight outline and medium circle with hakikake sweeping out indication.
Nakago(tang) : UBU un-altered, Osujikai slanted left filemarks with one mekugi ana punch. Kurijiri round heel shape. One mekugi-ana. The signature in hakiomote is chiselled two large character KANE TAKA and the reversed side is chiselled with the date of year the 5th day, 4th month, 49th year of Showa.
Smith KANETAKA in Seki city, his real name is Kuwayama Takashi, born in the 3rd year of Showa (A.D.1928), who had learned from Watanabe KANENAGA school. He obtained NYUSEN awards in 16th times at NBTHK swords contests. The entire blade is neat with five-sun, six-bu and seven-rin which has a close resembles of a work of kamamura period. Elaborate forging masame skin (straight grain mark) is delicately beautiful and shows his high skill and one of his masterpieces, with strong impression and intention to re-produce the work of the ancient HOUSHO in the Yamato school.
