Blade construction : Unokubi zukuri Iori-mune. Mihaba is wide to the length and there is kurura in full. There is massive thickness on base. The entire blade is heroically brave. (click HERE for higher resolution of entire blade)
Forging (Hada) : Jigane is itame hada, mixing in with flowing masame hada.
Temper line (Hamon) : Hamon starts with short YAKIZASHI quiet temper, then mixing in with clove and small mixture of Gunome outline where is generally NIOI based, upper the blade, thicker the Nie and deeper the Nioi activity with frequent ASHI grows and SUNAGASHI (brushing nie lines) in it. The entire hamon is splendidly broad-minded.
Tang (Nakago) : Sujikai slanted file marks. there is one retaining hole (Mekugiana), The Kurijiri round heel-shape.
Temper of tip (Boshi) : The temper of boshi is hakikake brushing up indication then small turns back that generates JIZOU profile shape.
The subject tanto was judged as a work of NOBUTAKA in Owari province during Bunka period early 19 th century. Nobutaka and it's families had been exclusively worked for Owari-han during Edo period. The koshirae is possibly an original when it was made that is comprising of menuki set of flying dragons and Shells motif kozuka. The entire blade remains old polish status and there are some old marks of scratches below fukura area. However it remains rich volume and still holds an good old atmosphere in 200 years.
Copper old habaki collar. No shirasaya plain wood mounting included.
