The subject tanto was judged as a work of KANETSUNE in which 5th generation was exclusively worked for Toyotomi Hideyoshi and changed his smith name to MASATSUNE. Because of an old polish status, there is a very slight chipped off mark under the habaki collar, which will be entirely removed by a repair work. The entire blade shows a typical mino province favor during early 16 th century. Another highlight of this tanto is
remarkable and fashionable set of mount (early 19 th century) that is comprising of :
menuki set gods of good fortune, kashira is warrior's helmet and warrior design fuchi, phoenix design iron tsuba and gold BONJI motif kozuka. The entire blade remains old polish status and there are some old marks of scratches. However it well remains and still holds an good old atmosphere in 500 years or more.
Gold foiled habaki collar. No shirasaya plain wood mounting included.
